Brennecke's Beach Broiler Restaurant Review: Brennecke's is the kind of place that tends to attract a crowd, even though the food isn't outstanding in any particular way. It's been a Poipu landmark since 1983, combining an ocean view with lots of conviviality and plenty of seafood. It's thoroughly casual yet not a dive. It has a dreamy view for lovers, big tables and kids' portions for families, a full bar for merry imbibers (mai tais are large here), burgers, steak, and plenty of fresh island fish choices. It's best to stay away from the more complicated dishes. Instead, start with the ahi sashimi or the ceviche --- that is, only if you're hungry, since dinners have a choice of salad or clam chowder, rice and taro wheat rolls. Service is attentive and friendly, allowing you to enjoy the beachfront setting. A beach deli offers breakfast take-out and picnics. |
