The Brewhouse Restaurant Review: The Brewhouse is a popular off-the-beaten-path gathering place for locals, and you’ll often find three generations of families at a table, mixing with beer-swilling fishermen and surfers. The oversize menu boasts a somewhat bizarre medley of international comfort food --- from beef stroganoff to enchiladas, wiener schnitzel and shepherd’s pie. The food is surprisingly good, but the scene can be raucous, particularly later in the evening when live music clashes violently with the room’s acoustics. Menu highlights include local halibut crusted with macadamia nuts and served with a three-citrus cream sauce, and a bacon-wrapped filet mignon plated atop Gorgonzola sauce. Fifteen varieties of beer are handcrafted on site, each worth a try, including porters and ales. But save room for the peanut butter cream pie with chocolate sauce --- one of the best desserts you’ll find in Santa Barbara.
