| THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAS CHANGED NAMES Leslie Shirah and Matt Sturm, owners of Fly and Solstice, brought their friendly, fun lounge act to the TenderNob. Named for the exposed century-old brick wall on one side of the dining room, the roomy, chic space draws a trendy crowd eager for good cocktails and a sophisticated scene in an otherwise dodgy neighborhood. Though lighter fare would seem like the best choice here, larger, seasonal entrées beat out the lounge’s mediocre salads and appetizers. We like the nicely-done, pan-roasted chicken breast atop fava bean bread pudding, and crispy-skin black bass over succotash. Desserts are gooey and substantial---and should be for their prices. Signature cocktails are first-rate. The Elder Sour, layered with bourbon, elderflower liqueur and fresh lemon, is a balanced, refreshing winner. Local art adds inspired touches to the décor. Ask about the cozy, private back room for larger parties where there is no fee or minimum required. |
