| A landmark dining establishment, Brooks is, and has always been, Palm Beach County's favorite special occasion restaurant for upscale, updated Continental cuisine. Lobster bisque with a shot of sherry is a can't-miss opener, though scallops dredged in cornmeal and bathed in a tomato-corn salsa is pretty satisfying as well. Salad aficionados can do no better than the Caesar with smoked salmon. Robust meat dishes are the specialty here, the steaks thick, prime, and well-marbled, the old-time, traditional mustard-crusted rack of lamb a reminder that some recipes just can't be improved upon. Yellowfin tuna with cracked pepper crust and brandy sauce is one of numerous seafood entrées that are as big and meaty as beef. Brooks' signature soufflé rises to the occasion in either chocolate or Grand Marnier flavors, and the Key lime pie is peerless, elevated by macadamia nuts in the graham cracker crust. |
