Brown Butter Southern Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review

: While many restaurants in New Orleans focus on Cajun and Creole cuisine, Brown Butter goes a step further, offering Southern cooking that represents all of the Southern U.S. A very woody interior, nice lighting and soothing colors combine to make a surprisingly intimate dining experience, especially since right outside are many small businesses and parking lots. Chef Dayne Womax and partner Simon Beck aim to offer food that is "thought provoking." Mission accomplished, Gentlemen. For example, you would be hard-pressed to find another place in town that offers rabbit and dumplings with cornbread gnocchi. And if that's not unusual enough, consider the chef's chicken fried quail salad. Are you brave enough to try warm pig rinds with smoked corn buttermilk dressing? For dessert, try the shortbread with chocolate and berries. There is a full bar, where you can catch a Saints game on TV, and a generous beer selection. Decent wines are available, but who drinks fine wine with chicken and waffles anyway?
