THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bruegger's Bagel Bakery Restaurant Review:
This St. Paul-based chain first won our hearts by bringing the first decent bagel to the Twin Cities. Since then they have expanded their repertoire, adding boutique cream cheeses (the honey-walnut and the garden veggie are big hits), respectable soups (some stores have a Soupline you can call for the day's specials) and signature sandwiches that range from a basic BLT to a spicy-sweet Thai peanut chicken. Bagels come in standard issue plain, salt, poppy seed and garlic for the purists, and experimental flavors such as pumpkin-cream cheese for those who can't leave well enough alone. For a breakfast bagel sandwich that is far superior than most fast food offerings, try the Southwestern, which comes with jalapeño cream cheese, egg, cheddar cheese and a dollop of salsa. Unfortunately the coffee at Bruegger's isn't as good as we want it to be, but many locations remedy this shortcoming by share a wall with local coffee favorite Caribou Coffee.
