Buca di Beppo Restaurant Review: Buca di Beppo (translation: Joe’s basement) restaurants are divided into many rooms, with walls covered with hundreds of photos of famous Italians and Italian family scenes; tchotchkes and bright colors abound. Meanwhile, Dean Martin, Al Martino, Louie Prima and Frank Sinatra croon in the background. The menu, posted on painted signs in each room, includes about 20 entrées and 10 pizzas, plus several salads and sides. Everything is served family-style, with a very large family in mind --- five people ordering three entrées would still walk away with leftovers. The food is home-style Italian fare: hearty and not too adventuresome. Try the 12-layer lasagna, oozing meat sauce and cheese. It’s the size of a shoebox. Wine is exclusively Italian. For dessert, choose between a classic tiramisu and chocolate chip-studded cannolis.
