The Bukhara Restaurant Review

: The Bukhara offers an abundant and affordable lunchtime buffet. Many of your choices will look familiar, from tandoori chicken to dahl and rices. But try a selection or two from the menu as well. For example, start with the chilli chicken fritters and an order of the tava scallops, fresh scallops cooked on a griddle with a special sauce. Then consider the goat curry. It’s infrequently offered at most Indian restaurants, but it and a sister goat dish --- braised goat on the bone --- are featured fare. And while many Westerners may find goat too strong-tasting, its curry base enhances the full meaty goat flavor. Consider also the chicken makhani, the Goan shrimp curry and the lamb vindaloo, traditionally fiery hot. Vegetarian items include the dal Bukhara, eggplant bhartha (roasted eggplant with garlic, onions and tomatoes) and the paneer Bukhara (homemade cheese cooked with onions, bell pepper, tomatoes and cumin). For a change of pace, try the goat cheese kulcha, one of the restaurant’s bread choices, or simply order an assorted bread basket to experience several different flavors. Vegetarians will find ample choices to satisfy their Indian food hunger. Desserts are limited to Indian ice cream, two cottage cheese assemblies and rice pudding.
