Bull Demon King Cafe Restaurant Review:

Competitive eating has become popular around the world, and in Temple City’s City Plaza strip mall, it’s now possible to take on Satan, in a manner of speaking. Bull Demon King Café, a Taiwanese restaurant with wood banquettes, paper lanterns and bull horns on the walls, offers daring customers the "BDK Hell Challenge." This dish doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun to eat, but if you devour the massive bowl of “BDK Hell Noodles” within 30 minutes, they’ll comp your $20.99 meal, give you a T-shirt and post your picture on the Wall of Fame. For most people, "Full House Soup" is a far more pleasant option, a flavorful beef noodle soup loaded with sliced beef, sticky tendon and honeycomb tripe. Specify the spice level and noodle style, with thick, thin, flat or glass. The soup takes about 30 minutes to prepare, but it’s worth the wait. Other Taiwanese comfort food options include fried pork chop rice, popcorn chicken and sausage with slivered garlic. But really, it’s all about the beef noodle soup. To drink, consider iced tea with colorful boba and jellies, which will help to tame the broth’s heat.
