THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Burgundy Room Restaurant Review:
The cozy Burgundy Room is among the gems of downtown's dining scene. An impressive wine cabinet greets guests inside its entrance. Specialties include the escargots Bourgogne in mushroom caps appetizer. Go for the scampi à la Provencale sautéed in garlic, olive oil, shallots, mushrooms and anchovies tossed with a spicy marinara sauce with a splash of Cognac atop linguine. We like the sautéed and baked Dover sole garnished with oyster mushrooms. Other favorites are the duck à l'orange braised with Espagnole sauce laced with orange zest glaze with Grand Marnier accompanied by wild mushroom risotto, and the chateaubriand for two. Burgundy Room's most popular entrée is the beef Wellington---tenderloin of beef encased in flaky puff pastry, duxelle, foie gras and truffles with sauce bordelaise. Save room for the fried strawberries with fresh whipped cream and Melba sauce sprinkled with cocoa powder. Cherries jubilee and bananas Foster are prepared and flamed tableside with flair.
