Cactus Taqueria Restaurant Review: Flavorful burritos, tacos, tamales, tortas and enchiladas: Cactus serves the basics, albeit bountiful basics, but daily specials such as yam flautas and peanut-sauced Oaxaca chicken raise the bar. Diners order at the counter from a long list of fillings that includes pollo asado, red or green mole, shrimp, carnitas, and the lighter but equally tasty vegetables asados, a combination of grilled squash and seasonal vegetables marinated in garlic and white wine. The tortillas are lard-free, the chips are fried in safflower oil, and the meats are from quality purveyors such as Hoffman Farms and Niman Ranch. |
