THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Allegre Restaurant Review:

Café Allegre is the type of restaurant you'd hope to find in the charming College Park neighborhood of Orlando. Small, neighborly feel. Good and unpretentious food. Set as a tiny French café with a simple décor, the size of the dining room is no indication of the quality of the food on your plate, compliments of chef Kevin Fonzo who is wise enough to limit his offerings of entrées to a short list following a more generous number of options for appetizers. Among them a savory pea soup and a spring pea blini with crab and mango with a citrus vinaigrette. The peppered steak and potatoes tuna combines a fresh tuna steak with a peppered crust, rosemary, a mango relish and Vidalia onions served atop tasty potatoes. Although we are a bit hesitant when there is too much sweetness, we found that the flavors combined well, no one too overpowering, leaving intact the taste of the fresh tuna. But still, the mango presence, as in the scallops, could make itself more discrete. Combined with sun-dried tomato risotto and a fennel cole slaw, the bass is another example of chef Fonzo's culinary ability. A good reason to return again? The restaurant's list of daily specials. We loved an appetizer dish that combines fresh mozzarella with roasted vegetables. If only it was on the menu every day.
