THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Atlantic Restaurant Review:
Prominent restaurateur Xiomara Ardolina opened this cozy spot just around the corner from her acclaimed Xiomara to showcase the authentic cuisine of her native Cuba. The place has a stylish aura, with spare exposed brick or taupe-hued walls and candlelit tables topped with white linen and butcher paper. Although casual, its a refreshing upgrade from Versailles and other more pedestrian Cuban eateries. For starters, jump for the creamy lamb croquetas or crunchy bacalao (salt cod) fritters, both presented rather elegantly with cool aïoli-like dipping sauces. For entrées, consider a hearty ropa vieja, saffron-scented arroz con pollo, or flank steak topped with onions and parsley. The accompanying sweet plantains and heart-warming black beans enhance the experience.
