THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Bodega Restaurant Review: Several items on Café Bodega's menu are so popular that chef Matthew Brewer hasn't been able to remove them since the restaurant opened. The best are the Hangtown Fry appetizers---four plump fried oysters wrapped in smoked bacon and served with chive crêpes. Diners wrap their own crêpe and oyster tacos, seasoned with either a spicy Asian sauce or creamy garlic mayonnaise. It adds a new dimension to the term playing with your food. The paella on the dinner menu is also a long-standing winner. It's a visual feast of shellfish, spicy sausage and chicken that tastes as good as it looks. The pan-roasted duck breast with coconut curry and a daikon salad is an unctuous taste of the Pacific Rim. Café Bodega's look is pale and soothing, with a changing display of local contemporary art. |
