The Cafe Restaurant Review: Executive chef Jesse Souza and Indian Specialty chef Gurminder Gidda prepare classic dishes with an international twist at this Taj Boston restaurant. A permanent selection of rotating Indian specialties includes chicken biryani and seafood tawa pulao. New England seafood excels, too, such as roasted Block Island swordfish with citrus beurre blanc. Juicy slow-roasted Berkshire pork with a crispy golden potato cake topped with a rich bacon braising jus, and a fork-tender grilled beef filet complemented by creamy whipped potatoes are among heartier fare. Specialty tasting menus may be paired with options from the lengthy wine list. We like the rich salted caramel Baileys torte and peach vanilla Pavlova sided by honey ice cream. Guests still enjoy dressing up for dinner at this refined Old Boston-style establishment with its chandeliered dining room overlooking Newbury Street. Service is attentive.
