Cafe Cortadito Restaurant Review:

It’s not the selection that draws the lines of hungry diners waiting in front of this East Village Cuban restaurant. It’s the quality of the food. Dishes may not deviate much from the Cuban canon but they’re prepared with gusto. Begin your meal with fried yucca (cassava) fingers with Cortadito salsa and guaguanco salad of avocado and pineapple, before moving to savory entrées like braised oxtail and grilled skirt steak with chimichurri salsa. The size of the space reveals another reason for the lines, with a dozen tables scattered in two cramped rooms and an even tinier open kitchen.
