 Café Express is nice for an after-work glass of wine, accompanied by one of the dips---say, the garlicky puréed white bean spread. The burgers, pasta, salads and sandwiches are also appealing, although the cold sandwiches, as opposed to the hot ones, are uninspired. Go for the minestrone when it’s available; the herbed roasted chicken is excellent, and the pesto-topped fettucine is our pasta favorite. This place appeals to everyone---groups of business people gathered for lunch, moms with kids taking a break, solo diners poring over the free newspapers.
