Café Gratitude serves vegan, raw food, meaning that it's not only meat- and dairy-free, but that nothing is heated above 115 degrees. Be prepared for a slightly New Age experience: dishes are whimsically titled, as in the "I Am Sensational" (pizza with pesto) and "I Am Thankful" (Thai coconut soup), but are also surprisingly tasty and fresh. If you want gluten-free food or desserts without dairy or flour, this is one of the most reliable eateries in the county for alternative cuisine. The dining experience is mostly about communal tables. You may find yourself elbow to elbow with a mixed hippie-yuppie scene that is quintessentially Marin.
