THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Habana Restaurant Review: If you hear the music of the Miami Sound Machine coming from a small place on 21st Street, wander in and experience a truly Cuban evening. From the bright colors, wrought-iron fixtures and potted palms, to the bright yellow menu that offers all the dishes that owners Juan and Miguel Fernandez were raised with, the vibe is authentically Cuban. Grab a mojito, try chef Miguel Leon’s excellent black bean or oxtail soup, the tamale of chicken or pork, or a Caribbean-inspired bouillabaisse or zarzuela made with clams, shrimp and octopus. Ropa vieja and skirt steak make an appearance, but there is also a whole grilled fish or pork with guava glaze. Flan flavored with caramel, chocolate or guava is the house dessert.
