Cafe Kacao Restaurant Review: Cafe Kacao’s exterior does little to hint at the experience that awaits through its doors. But step inside to find colorful tablecloths and bustling staff along with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu with rotating daily specials. The cooking is inspired by Latin America, with a focus on Guatemalan cuisine with other south-of-the-border offerings. Enjoy the deceptively simple beans, chips and salsa appetizer --- strong flavors from seemingly humble refried black beans and the restaurant’s signature house-made red and green salsas. The huevos rancheros, motuleño and Tikal breakfast are popular choices, but keep your eye on the aforementioned specials for limited-edition treats like Saturday’s chocolate waffles. Enjoy a bottled Mexican Coke with your meal. Follow it with some strong Guatemalan coffee and fried plantains or a mollette --- Guatemalan fried bread stuffed with pudding --- to round out your meal.
