| El Cholo fans will be happy to visit Café Maiz, a fast-casual restaurant concept by The Restaurant Business Inc. (El Cholo Irvine, El Cholo Los Angeles, The Cat & The Custard Cup, The Cannery). Located in a '70s-era strip mall across from The Shops at Mission Viejo, the eatery serves up El Cholo’s signature handmade corn tortillas for its fairly authentic tacos, burritos, enchiladas and ensaladas. The El Cholo green corn tamale, with its fresh corn masa, cheddar and roasted green chilies, is a favorite. The salsa bar features four varieties along with spicy pickled vegetables and other garnishes. El Cholo aficionados can also order the restaurant’s famed sweet and strong margaritas. Families should note that an expanded selection of kid-friendly options includes items like burritos and quesadillas. |
