Cafe Manhattan Restaurant Review: Café Manhattan’s South County location offers the same comfort-food menu as its sister in the more upscale northern suburbs. Soups are almost as good as Mom’s; the chili, while it falls into the overly tomato-y category, is surprisingly spicy for such a middle-of-the-road place. The menu includes the St. Louis classic sandwich (braunschweiger and onion, served here with lettuce, tomato and a Thousand Island-like sauce) and classic Provel-topped, cracker-thin St. Louis-style pizza. Burgers are reliable, but why not try a fat, juicy meatloaf sandwich and some hand-cut fries? And don’t skip the house-made desserts. Expect lots of families here, plus some business-types slipping away for lunch with a chocolate milkshake. |
