Cafe Martorano Restaurant Review

: No one ever accused chef-owner Steve Martorano, originally a South Philly DJ, of subtlety, and the same is true of his eatery's boisterous ambience with a Sinatra soundtrack (hip-hop and disco on weekends) and big portions of bold-flavored Italian-American food. You want the softball-size meatballs with Sunday pork gravy and a dollop of ricotta; veal piccata with polenta; and al dente pastas like garlicky linguine with fresh-shucked clams or bucatini amatriciana in red sauce with cured pork cheek and grated pecorino. The wine list is mostly Italian and mostly too expensive, but an affordable Rocca delle Macie Chianti matches the food and mood well.
