Cafe Sistina Restaurant Review: It’s not unusual to see people snapping photos at restaurants these days. However, at Café Sistina, guests aren’t photographing their bowl of Bolognese, but the walls that are covered with colorful hues of Michelangelo’s frescoes---all painted by owner Sergio Mitrotti himself. The menu here is trisected according to “The Classics: From my Grandma’s Kitchen,” “The Contemporary: From my Mother’s Kitchen” and “The Cutting Edge: From my Own Kitchen.” We eat simply here, often late at night at the bar, ordering dishes Mitrotti's grandmother would have made---bruschetta con vongole and linguine alla puttanesca, a spicy marvel full of black olives, capers and anchovies. With a glass of Frascati or Valpolicella Amarone, we sit back and enjoy the art. |
