Cafe Spiaggia Restaurant Review: A respite amid Mag Mile madness, this sedate, frescoed dining room is perfect for a tryst --- especially when you sit at a table for two in a window alcove overlooking the cityscape. It's also less expensive than Spiaggia across the hall --- though it is far from cheap. Keep the tab down by concentrating on beginners, like ruby trout crostini studded with capers, or Piedmontese beef carpaccio with arugula aïoli, Calabrian peppers and garlic. But then you’d be missing the pastas --- think tagliolini with olive oil-poached tuna, Corno di Capra peppers, basil and bread crumbs --- and memorable main courses, such as game hen, plated with fava beans, La Quercia guanciale and oven-dried tomatoes. Dessert is worth saving room for, whether it’s a cheese course or Valrhona chocolate-pistachio custard tart with stracciatella gelato. The wine list, as one would expect, is loaded with treasures.
