THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED With only eight tables and an ever-changing, five-course menu, Café Toast is a classy refuge from the raucous culinary wasteland that lines the Killington access road. Chef-owner Taylor Glaze prepares everything herself, from the candied walnuts in the salads to the creamy homemade soups, and the wine list changes as often as the menu. She also owns Glaze's Wine Cellar, around the corner from the restaurant, so she can select from the shop's collection of Californian, European, South African, Chilean and Australian wines to accompany her seasonal menu. Start with one of the soups; the butternut squash bisque is sweetly satisfying. Then move on to the “bleu & berry" house salad, a crunchy combination of romaine, blue cheese and dried cranberries. For an entrée, we recommend the pan-seared Long Island duck breast with a cherry demi-glaze or the sesame-encrusted tuna with wasabi. For dessert, try the decadent chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cake. But don't go it alone. The desserts here are huge.
