California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review: California Pizza Kitchen offers traditional pies, of course, such as pepperoni and mushroom with mozzarella. But CPK built its reputation with variations on the familiar pizza theme with such creations as the barbecue chicken pizza and one topped with pear and Gorgonzola. Or try the Hawaiian with pineapple and Canadian bacon (no Spam?) or wild mushroom featuring a trio of different fungi flavored with mushroom walnut pesto. Global influences are also mixed and matched in Korean barbecue steak tacos, tortilla spring rolls, quinoa and arugula salad, and Moroccan-spiced chicken. With only a few exceptions (like jambalaya fettuccine), the pasta list is fairly traditional. In case you haven’t loaded up on enough carbs, desserts include red velvet cake and Key lime pie. Serviceable, value-priced and mostly American wines compose the wine offerings, and there are a few draft beers. |
