California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review: The barbecue chicken pizza may have put CPK on the map, but new flavors such as habanero carnitas have gotten our attention, too. Surprisingly, though, it’s really the non-pizza items that bring us back, especially the (gluten-free) tortilla soup, Thai crunch salad, and a grilled veggie sandwich with a side of spicy Szechuan slaw. For dessert, go for the Key lime pie --- you can easily skip the whipped cream. CPK also tries to feature regional beers whenever possible, and in these parts that means at least one Firestone Walker on tap. With a location next to one of the downtown cineplexes and across the street from the city parking lot, this is a good spot for either a quick weekday lunch or a weekend movie date. |
