It's Carnivale every night: ceviches and empanadas vibrant enough to compete with the décor.

It's hard not to be seduced by Calle Ocho's vibrant décor, from the colorful bar to the dining room that undulates with festive artwork and hues inspired by the Latin American landscape. Expect a range of pan-Latin dishes that are at once authentic and inventive (especially good are the dishes rooted in native Cuban cuisine). Homemade breads are served in a wooden cigar box with black bean dip. Peruvian ceviches, empanadas, a smoky mixed grill and spice-rubbed salmon on saffron paella are all good bets. Desserts include crispy banana fritters with ice cream and banana-caramel sauce. Calle Ocho's waitstaff is crisp and savvy, and its Sunday jazz brunch is notable.

Great food! Great service! Calle Ocho
by fre123 on 11/11/2010

Calla Ocho hit the spot! Good Latin style cooking just had me feeling RIGHT! The service was just great. Walking in the restaurant, immediately I was given eye contact, greeted and seated with the utmost respect. The server seemed to like the food and actually recommended the burritos. Luckily I already love burritos, but there was something different about these ones. I don’t know, maybe it was the smell radiating off of it. The burritos were so amazing that even though the burrito was hard to fit in my mouth, it was so tasty I didn’t care how big a mess I made. It had so many different savory flavors reacting together in all the right ways, which eventually concluded in me ordering a second. I couldn’t help it; call me greedy if you want. You need to try them first before you judge me. And the sangrias! Let me start by saying that the sangrias self serve “bar” has eight different flavors. I did not know what to do with myself. All I knew was someone was going to need to call me a taxi by the end of the night! My advise, try Calla Ocho out. Trust me when I say you’ll be back for more. Very Happy Very Happy
