Camille’s Restaurant Review

: Since the 1980s, Camille’s has been a beloved Key West neighborhood restaurant. Its style is a little retro and a lot over the top --- which goes for the portions, too. Everything from the tropical-colored décor to Barbie dolls done up in bondage leather, to plates of food piled to the limit sends the message "Too much is not enough." Residents' favorite meal is breakfast (served until 3 p.m. to accommodate the local lifestyle and workday), satisfying with creatively overindulgent fare: french toast with Godiva white chocolate sauce; corn/cashew waffles with coconut milk sauce, mango and passion fruit; stone crab eggs Benedict. Lunch and dinner follow suit. Delicate stone crab claw cakes cower beneath Captain Morgan spiced rum/mango sauce; yellowtail snapper comes macadamia nut-crusted and topped with caramelized onions and diced tomatoes, with a ginger/coconut milk/Key lime/Chardonnay sauce to boot. But it's all good fun. Everyone from bikers to drag queens to electricians eat here. (Of course, in Key West, that could all be the same person.)
