THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Campania Restaurant Review: Many years ago when owner Ciro Marino, scion of a famous Los Angeles restaurant family, checked out the Italian restaurant scene in Charlotte, he found a ho-hum, generic national chain outlet was the city's favorite. He knew he'd found his niche and by the next year, Campania had become enormously popular. The gourmet cuisine reflects Campania, the region around Naples where Marino's family is from, but also picks up the Roman, Greek, Moorish and Spanish influences that shaped the area's cooking. Notable is the fresh red snapper in acqua pazza (which translates to an ultra-tasty crazy water of herbs, garlic, shallots and tomatoes).
