THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Canvas Tapas Cafe Restaurant Review:

Located in a former Caribbean restaurant, Canvas Tapas Café is something of a mystery, since it is neither just Portuguese nor just Caribbean but a melding of two very differing cuisines. Often, mixing influences can work, but the Canvas kitchen hasn’t quite figured out the how. So what to order? We decided to start with some hot and some cold tapas, and can recommend the Caribbean fried plantains (hot), mushrooms in white wine (cold) and moules vinaigrette (cold). But we’d steer clear of such entrées as the Caribbean Nutty Brown chicken, which is a chicken breast served in an undramatic peanut sauce, and the curry shrimp, very bland despite the menu’s notation that it is hot. To conclude, stick to the flan, an above average rendering of a well-beloved Spanish dessert, though you should inquire about the desserts of the day. Note that artwork decorates the bright-colored two-toned walls and pulsating flamenco music fills up the background sounds.
