THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Canyon Restaurant Review: Chef-restaurateur Rich Mead brings his strong purveyor relationships and modern culinary sensibilities, as well as a casual ambience, to this neighborhood restaurant. The subdued atmosphere, augmented with a spacious bar marked with soothing brown and beige hues, suits the surrounding area. Also in concert with the vibe is the cooking: comforting and straightforward, but with a hint of flair. Mead’s passion for seeking out the finest locally grown, seasonal ingredients is evident throughout the daily changing menu, from starters such as tempura green beans and crispy blue crab spring rolls with green papaya and red peppers, to the warm prosciutto and spinach salad with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. Modern versions of classic chicken, beef and seafood dishes predominate, although we recommend the complex flavors found in the filet mignon-stuffed chile relleno. The “bananas foster” french toast dessert puts an intriguing spin on the traditional bread pudding closer.
