Carmen's Cuban Cafe Restaurant Review: Behind Carmen’s nondescript strip mall façade is the area's most extensive offering of authentic Cuban cuisine, served against a backdrop evocative of pre-Castro Havana. Order a powerful mojito Cubano with croquetas, empanadas, or a platter of fried plantains. Continue the adventure with a Caribbean-style fricasséed chicken, snapper in habanero sauce, shrimp in salsa verde or the house specialty, lechón asado, a fist-size chunk of pork butt slowly roasted until it's meltingly tender under a mantel of caramelized natural sugars and fat. Finish with flan or tres leches cake, then, on weekends, dance the night away to Latin music. |
