THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Casa de Campo Restaurant Review:
We happened in here one quiet afternoon, finding a Spanish TV program dominating the conversation a menu starring primarily Argentinean food. For a cuisine with little representation in the metro area, Argentinean cooking is suddenly taking center stage. Rubbing elbows with a dozen other nearby, ethnic places, this Argentinean eatery offers both native fare and continental dishes---from ravioli and sphagueti (sic) to picanto de pollo and lomo a la chorellana---to woo its customers. But where to start? For the uninitiated, take a plunge with something like the sillpancho, a typical beef dish of a very thin, breaded steak, pan-fried and topped with a fried egg, then served on a bed of rice and potatoes. Not surprisingly, as Argentina is cattle country, most of the entrées feature beef in one cut or another, making this not a welcome destination for vegetarians. Despite the dreary décor and the cuisines unfamiliarity, this place warrants a close look.
