Casa Lucio Restaurant Review:

Step through the ancient timber doors and you will discover a quintessential tavern-style dining space that has remained pretty much the same since it opened in 1974. Rustic carpentry, low ceilings and soft lighting come together to create an atmosphere that’s utterly charming and most inviting. Start with Lucio’s signature dish, “huevos estrellados” (thinly cut fries with “broken” fried eggs), before moving on to hearty delights such as chickpea cocido, beef solomillo, roast sea bass and garlic prawns, all of which is cooked on the coal-fired ovens. A well-considered wine menu features some of the finest selections from across Spain. Ask for recommendations on Riojas and Madrid DO wines, or order a jug of homemade sangría, which is light and refreshing. To finish, try a traditional Spanish crème brûlée or rice pudding accompanied by a shot of intense espresso and a glass of Penedès region cava.
