THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Casamento's Restaurant Review

: No frills and no apologies could be the motto at Casamento's, a well-worn mecca known for its plump, salty oysters and delicately fried seafood. A New Orleans institution since 1919, the restaurant retains its original patina, its prodigiously tiled walls and floors, and its reputation for quality seafood. The oysters are served raw, or fried and put between slabs of white bread. Order the oyster loaf and that's what you'll get---an unsliced, hollowed-out loaf loaded with them. The oyster stew is the classic local version, with whole oysters bobbing in scalded milk and butter with green onion and pepper. Enjoy the quirky servers and the seafood, but skip the soggy spaghetti and unremarkable omelets.
