| Cascabel is a lively, authentic Mexican taqueria on the Upper East Side. Order tacos and you get two tongue, seafood, shrimp, carne asada or chicken soft-corn versions served on a metal baking dish with your choice of green and red hot sauces. Each comes with interesting vegetable toppings such as hearts of palms, spring onions and oyster mushrooms. A quesadilla, lunchtime sandwiches, and dinner plates from pollo asado to carne a la plancha (grilled hanger steak) round out the menu. A nice selection of Mexican cocktails is offered along with wines, including some South American choices. For dessert, the restaurant’s snow cones may come in ancho chile, blueberry and lemon flavors, and churros take a square nugget shape. |
