| Founded in 1962 by “West Side Story” dancer Rudy del Campo, this neighborhood Mexican restaurant features soft lighting, comfy booths, twin patios and a gigantic rubber tree. The food is a cut above the usual Mexican fare, and includes such standout dishes as spicy chile Colorado, chile verde and taquitos topped with a dollop of fresh-made guacamole, authentic pollo mole and mahi mahi. Live music adds excitement on most evenings, and on frequent Saturday nights, an outrageous drag show spoofing soap operas occupies the downstairs theater. |
