THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Catalan West Restaurant Review:

After a name change from the original El Catalan to simply Catalan, the restaurant remains as sophisticated as ever. If anything, however, Catalan seems always to be in transition, now that Yannick Cam, with his Mediterranean French and Spanish menu is no longer involved. The new executive chef, Javier Arze, decrees a menu that seems more predominately Spanish/Mediterranean, with such winning combinations as rack of lamb stuffed with olive tapénade and roasted pork filet served with a ragout of white beans, tomato and chorizo fumet. You’ll still find the lusty zarzuela and a black ink paella with shrimp, monkfish, mussels and squid.
