THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW A PRIVATE EVENT SPACE Catalina Country Club Restaurant Review:

The Catalina Country Club, always the first place that comes to mind when planning a special occasion dinner on the island, has a distinguished appearance and a pedigree to match. In 1921, William Wrigley, Jr. brought his Chicago Cubs to Catalina for spring training, and this building originally served as the team’s clubhouse. The bar, filled with Cubbie memorabilia, connects to the former locker room. With its high ceilings, soaring windows and wrought iron chandeliers, the California Mission dining room is stately; we only wish the management would dim the lights a bit to make it more romantic. Despite a commitment to quality, this high-end restaurant falls short of mainland standards, but a meal here can still be very special. Begin with steamed mussels in a green curry broth, with coconut milk and grilled bread. A seafood tower is loaded with fresh local selections that can be made to accommodate large parties. Among entrées, you’ll encounter the likes of Sonoma free-range veal with chanterelle mushrooms, as well as classic cioppino made with shrimp, clams, mussels and fish in a hearty broth. A basic wine list focuses mostly on large producers from California.
