| This intimate spot in the heart of Montecito puts an elegant spin on Latin cuisine. The family-run eatery offers the bold flavors of Spain, Mexico and South America, and the setting---Spanish guitar fills the room, and there’s an outdoor terraza complete with a cozy fireplace---lends an added element of authenticity. Cava is well known for its margaritas made from quality well spirits. The bar also features several high-end California wines and a lengthy list of cordials. For starters, we like the homemade guacamole with warm tortilla chips and the refreshing halibut ceviche. The fajitas platter is a hearty meal, with chicken or beef strips and vegetables served sizzling with ample guacamole, black beans, rice and salsa. We often split the classic paella. And our favorite meat dish is the Cava filet mignon, served with a green peppercorn sauce and chipotle mashed potatoes. For dessert, we recommend the besito de cava, a rich chocolate ganache torte drenched in a sauce made with coffee and Patron XO tequila. |
