The minimalist modern décor surprises with its low-key banquettes, giant picture windows, exhibition kitchen and golden mood lighting. Start with a handcrafted cocktail like traditional sangría, Mezcal Mule or signature Cha Cha Margarita, which contains fresh grapefruit juice and elderflower liqueur, as well as 100-percent blue agave tequila. The unusually crisp chips set the proper mood, either when enjoyed with the kicked-up salsa or augmented with the made-to-order guacamole. For appetizers, try the thick "papas fritas" fries or the rich cheese and chorizo fundido. Freshly made organic tortillas highlight six types of “street food”-style tacos. As for mains, the roasted Jidori chicken with Yucatan spices is a standout, as are the enchiladas and the slow-braised carnitas. Looking for a late-night spot in Brea? After 10 p.m., Cha Cha’s serves items from its reasonably priced happy hour menu and transforms into a hip spot to drink, eat and party into the wee hours.
