Chaat Cafe Restaurant Review: Chaat is India's version of fast-food small plates, typically sold at street stalls. At this Berkeley outpost of a chain with other locations in San Francisco, San Jose and Fremont, chicken and lamb snacks come from the tandoor. Additional savory treats include hot Indian breads and spicy vegetable mélanges, including crunchy samosas and little lentil dumplings. Chicken and lamb are halal; organic ingredients are used whenever possible, and all dishes are 100 percent trans-fat free. Family-owned Chaat Café is a good place to bring vegetarians for a casual meal. |
