THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Charlie's Seafood Restaurant Review: Frank Brigtsen, a passionate fisherman and owner of the eponymous uptown establishment, is a native of Harahan where Charlie's is located. He drove past the shuttered restaurant space every day until deciding to rehab the place. With his wife and business partner, Marna, Brigtsen renovated the tiny old building, restoring the interior and the menu offerings to what they had been. That means fried, broiled or grilled seafood platters, stuffed crabs, catfish and grits, shrimp etouffée and more local favorites. Seafood is all locally sourced, including Des Allemands wild-caught catfish. If you can find a thinner, crispier catfish in these parts, let us know. Gumbo is thick, hearty, and full of fresh seafood. Dessert is best experienced via the chef’s irresistible pecan pie.
