THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chef's Inn & Tavern Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Three porcelain lion heads weighing 450 pounds each (once adorning the old Pacific Trailways Building in Los Angeles) greet you at the door of this unique location just a couple of miles from Lake Arrowhead. The building dates back to the 1800s when mountain loggers came for dinner, then went for a social visit in the upstairs boudoir. The stained-glass windows and entry doors come from the old State Capitol Building in Carson City, Nevada (circa 1860), and period antiques are on display throughout. Current owner and chef Walter Rippe apprenticed at New Yorks famous 21 Club. His mostly Continental menu frequently includes a few German specialties such as sauerbraten and rouladen of beef with Bavarian red cabbage, as well as old-fashioned selections such as steak Diane.
