Just off the picturesque Place des Victoires in the second arrondissement, Chez Georges attracts a steady stream of loyal locals, mostly from the nearby stock exchange, and trusting tourists in search of sincere portions of heart-warming classic French bistro fare. Frisée and lardon salad, terrines, steak béarnaise, duck and sole meunière are to be enjoyed either with the well-priced wine selections that appear on the daily blackboard, or with a more important bottle from the restaurant's serious wine list. The long dining room is lined with leather banquettes and mirrors, and tables are elegantly set with white tablecloths. Service is solicitous. Reservations are suggested.
