Roast chicken and sweetbreads, ratatouille and rich béarnaise, Lyonnaise salad and veal liver---there are many ways to impress that special someone during dinner at Chez Leon. The lunch menu gives the kitchen liberty to show off its simpler dishes, like croque monsieur and madame. Owner Leon Bierbaum runs things with finesse, and the move to the Clayton location a while back seems to have been for the best. Check out the flexible three-course prix-fixe option, a carryover that might not be as necessary to the well-heeled crowd in Clayton but is welcome nonetheless. The all-French wine list remains strong, though it may require some translation for those not familiar with France’s regions and varietals.
