Chicago Diner Restaurant Review: The burgers are grain-burgers and the Reuben sandwich is made with grilled seitan, onions, peppers, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. The chili is full of beans, peppers and “beefy” seitan. That's the way it goes at this casual, laid-back vegetarian diner, so don't ask for meatloaf (or expect to get the real thing if you do). The soups are first-rate, the salads very creative, though you need to be into this sort of thing in order to fully appreciate what’s at hand. Be sure to check out the seasonal menu and specials, which emphasize raw food. You may find a take on lasagna with zucchini and portobello mushrooms. Beer, organic vegan wines and organic vodka cocktails are available. There is a gluten-free menu, too. A second location is at 2333 N. Milwaukee Ave., 773-252-3211.
