Chili's Bar & Grill Restaurant Review

: This chain draws families and a younger crowd to its colorful restaurants. The Tex-Mex theme is played out in Saltillo-tiled floors, Mexican-tiled tables, ceiling fans and artifacts. One running theme is coyote tracks strategically embedded in the floor tiles of every Chili's. The restaurants serve premium margaritas and feature all the usuals --- nachos, wings, chili con queso. fajitas, ribs and burgers dominate the menu, but you can get a veggie burger or grilled chicken, too. If you're not worried about your waistline, the chocolate chip paradise pie or chocolate brownie sundae await. If you're watching your weight, stick to the Guiltless Grill menu, which includes fat grams and calorie totals. If you're watching your budget, ask about dinner for two for $20, or the $6 lunch combo. Other locations.

Drive up the road to the next Chili's
by FoodCritic on Sat Dec 27, 2014 4:29 pm
We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30, before the dinner rush.

The hostess asked if we'd like to buy a $50 gift card and receive an extra $10 bonus card. "Great idea, since our meal will exceed $50," we said.

The floor of the dining room was dirty.

We were led to our table, to find a ZIOSK tablet on the table, which our teenage boys instantly began playing with. I used the tablet as well. I NEVER saw any LABEL, SIGN, WARNING or received a VERBAL ADMONISHMENT that there would be a charge for using the tablet. I though that this was to entertain us and distract us from the slow & poor service.

Ryan, our server took our order.

When another employee delivered our meal, TWO meals were wrong. My wife was brought chicken when she ordered Talapia. I ordered (3) CRISPY TACOS w/Chicken. Instead I received (3) CRISPY CHICKEN Soft Tacos. I SETTLED for the soft tacos, as I was hungry and did not want to wait. My wife sent hers back, as she wanted fish (dietary concerns). When I was done eating, another server brought me a (3) Crispy Taco meal.

Ryan stopped by a little later & apologized. He said "don't worry I'll take care of you later."

We tried to use the ZIOSK to order our dessert to discover that it does not work. A waitress took our order and brought us our dessert.

When our bill came, I noticed that there was a 99ยข charge for using the ZIOSK tablet.

Then Ryan advised that the gift card we bought 2 hours earlier (yes, we'd been there over 2 hours!) could not be used on this visit, as there is a 4 hour delay in card activation.

When I contacted the manager about all of the problems during our visit I got the blow off. No credit for the screwed up meals, no credit for the tablet use. He did take the gift card number and promised to enter the debit after the 4 hour period.

My wife and I have been going to Chili's restaurants for over 35 years. We've eaten at over a hundred Chili's, but we do not plan on ever going back here.
